Chewing wood
Chewing wood
With the Ayka rodent wood from our online shop, your rodent can live out its natural instincts to the full. We only use the special hardwood of the Heidemann for our rodent wood, as softwoods and types of wood from trees that produce resin are not well tolerated by rodents.
Rodent wood is obtained from the roots of a special type of heather, a high-quality Mediterranean hardwood that grows a maximum of 30 kilometers from the Mediterranean or Atlantic.
These roots come from countries like Portugal or Greece and grow in the barren, hard soil of La Gomera or Madeira. This rodent wood comes from Portugal. The big advantage of the wood is that it does not splinter and is very robust.
Your pet can gnaw on it to its heart's content. What is gnawed off are small crumbs. Rodent sticks satisfy the natural need of rodents to nibble. Since rodents' teeth are constantly growing, the teeth can wear down naturally through gnawing.
It is therefore a nice change as it does not splinter and does not make the wood thick. The rodent wood is formed by nature, so each piece is unique. Variations in shape, color and weight are possible. Our product is collected by hand with ecological sustainability in mind.
